Geranium Dress in Llama Life from the New Faraway Places Collection - Coupon Code Inside
This past week I had the pleasure of finally cutting into some advanced yardage from the new Cloud9 Faraway Places collection. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do with all of this beautiful fabric!
After buying a pair of boots for my daughter that didn't work out, I figured out the perfect project; the Geranium dress in a size 10. This was my first time working from the larger sized pattern. I usually stick with baby dresses (they are so cute!).
Like the smaller version, the larger Geranium uses medium weight woven cotton. I used a combination of poplin print in Llama Llife Green and solid broadcloth in Peat.
Something I had decided to do last time around was to lengthen the bodice lining by about an inch. This made the final finishing much easier by ensuring I caught all of the layers when attaching the bodice to the skirt.
Ta-da! It was a pretty quick sew, even at this size. It took me under 2 hours from start to finish (this included entertaining my curious toddler).
Isn't it just beautiful?!
I chose the capped sleeve length for this one.
I'm not a big fan of sewing button holes, so I went with metal snaps. They are quick and easy to apply.
Not a bad 10th birthday gift! She was so happy about it. Oh, and did I mention those pockets? They are a major plus!
